Staying Ahead
in Health
Care Law
A By Lynette Carrington
ttorney Christina Milone views her law ca- reer as more than just her own. Over the past 22 years she has made it a priority to be mindful of those around her, and reflects
on how her actions affect others, as well as the larger community. At Miller & Milone, P.C., she has worked to infuse her positive ideals into the firm and create col- laborative bridges within a multifaceted environment. The synergy between interrelated departments and Milone’s inspiration for excellence has placed the firm on the leading edge of health care law.
A Solid Foundation
Milone’s collaborative approach to how she con- ducts her business has its roots in her childhood. “The influence stemmed from my parents who came from remarkably humble backgrounds,” states Milone. “Edu- cation was really important and I knew regardless of what I chose to do, whether it was in law or some other field, that education and higher education would just be a part of growing up for me.”
Her parents broke through a generational poverty cycle via higher education and that accomplishment struck a chord with Milone. They were always support- ive of her endeavors, a trait that has carried over to how Milone interacts with her own colleagues today. Mentors and Role Models
There were a variety of people who served as men- tors to Milone; some providing examples in unexpected ways. “I had a really wonderful professor in school who encouraged me to use the time in law school to explore the different kinds of law I may want to practice,” explains Milone. “Certainly when you’re in law school the most interesting subjects are criminal law and criminal proce- dure. When you’re young, it’s relevant to what’s around you, what you read in the newspaper and the popular TV shows. Professor Morris was really good about showing us that there were a lot of other things out there.”
