Withey Morris PLC Hires Land Use and Zoning Attorney Benjamin Tate

Withey Morris, a prominent Arizona land use law firm for nearly 20 years, hired Benjamin Tate as a land use and zoning attorney.

Tate is a second-generation Phoenix native with deep roots in the Valley and a passion for development. As a former litigator with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office and a boutique commercial litigation firm, Tate brings to the table his formidable skill set as an advocate, with a tenacity for getting results. In his practice, Tate uses his considerable experience in politics on the local, state and national level to successfully navigate complex political and bureaucratic landscapes.

“I have a strong connection to the Valley having lived in Arizona my entire life,” shared Tate. “Land use and zoning law is a perfect way for me to merge my political and legal backgrounds with my passion for development in the Valley. Joining Withey Morris allows me to have more of a direct hand in the Phoenix metro area’s growth.”

A problem-solver by nature, Tate employs a collaborative approach to developing creative solutions to novel and complex problems. His in-depth knowledge of the Valley’s history, its neighborhoods and its politics give him a unique perspective and understanding of land use issues that few young attorneys possess.

“Ben shares our enthusiasm for successfully growing the Valley,” said Adam Baugh, partner and owner. “He’s a natural fit for our team with his innate ability to find creative solutions. He will play a critical role in overcoming intricate challenges we face and navigating the political environment that goes along with that.”

Tate is a 2012 graduate of the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law and is a die-hard Wildcats fan. He is an avid weightlifter, swimmer, cyclist and outdoorsman – most recently completing a four-day trek through the backcountry of Denali National Park. Tate is also actively involved in his local community, serving as a member of the Advisory Board for the Legacy Foundation Christown YMCA. He and his wife have a daughter, Olivia, born in 2016.
