Polsinelli’s Melissa Ho and Maria Fernanda Hubbard Honored as Top Pro Bono Attorneys in Arizona

The Arizona Foundation for Legal Services Education has selected Polsinelli attorneys Melissa Ho and Maria Fernanda Hubbard as two of the Top 50 Pro Bono Attorneys in Arizona for 2018.

Ho and Hubbard, both attorneys in the Phoenix office of Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli, were recognized for giving their time and expertise to assist Arizonans who would otherwise have no access to legal resources. The award recipients, which included distinguished jurists Honorable Dennis Lusk and the Honorable Robert Gottsfield, were recognized at the 40th Anniversary Foundation luncheon in conjunction with the annual Arizona State Bar Convention.

Ho and Hubbard are both active volunteers with the Children’s Law Center and the Volunteer Lawyers’ Program, assisting families with juvenile guardianships. In 2017, Ho was the recipient of the Children’s Law Center (CLC) Clinic Award for her pro bono service on behalf of the CLC’s guardianship clinic program.

Ho is a shareholder in Polsinelli’s national Government Investigations practice group. A trial attorney with experience as a former prosecutor, Ho has a detailed understanding of government regulations and is sympathetic to the disruption and chaos a government inquiry and criminal investigation can cause. She successfully defends matters at both state and federal levels.

Hubbard is a member of Polsinelli’s national Insurance Recovery practice group and works with corporate policyholders to proactively help them develop creative and cost-effective insurance coverage strategies designed to minimize long term insurance recovery costs and the risk of protracted litigation.

Over the past fiscal year, Polsinelli attorneys dedicated almost 25,000 total hours toward the firm’s overall pro bono efforts.

Polsinelli is among the first law firms in the nation to join Project Corazon, a national coalition of top firms and non-profit immigration services providers working together to help reunite families separated by the “Zero-Tolerance Policy.” Polsinelli was one of only twenty law firms honored by the National Legal Aid and Defender Association with the 2014 Beacon of Justice Award in recognition of the firm’s commitment to the delivery of pro bono legal services.
