Feldman Gale, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, is a full-service intellectual property boutique that has consistently been recognized for its high level of service and record of achievement. The firm has grown to include another Florida office, in Tampa, as well as offices in Washington, D.C. and California. The firm maintains an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hub- bell and also continues to be recognized by U.S. News and World Reports as a Tier 1 Best Law Firm in Florida. The firm’s recent victory for Benz Research and Development, one of the world’s most innovative contact lens manufacturers, is a perfect example of that flexibility. Hired just three and a half weeks before trial was set to begin in a case that had been open for over three years, the firm not only overcame long odds and beat summary judgment, but they turned the tables on the defense, convincing the judge to enter a default judgment against the defendant, a former employee who had lied about stealing confidential information from the company.

In another nimble victory this year, the firm secured an injunction against an unauthorized distributor whose owners were untraceable for the manufacturer of the widely popular nail polish brand, Gelish. The firm’s resourcefulness and experience with obtaining injunctions resulted in the creation of a new legal roadmap for obtaining injunctions against unknown defendants in California under the state’s long arm statute.

Undoubtedly, the elite tactical model the firm follows has proven attractive to clients, which range from sole inventors to Fortune 500 companies. It also doesn’t hurt that Feldman Gale wins. Big. In 2011, the firm secured the largest ever trade secret verdict in history, a $2.3 billion judgment for medical device manufacturer, St. Jude Medical S.C. Co-founder, James Gale, believes it is the firm’s legal savvy and technical expertise that make it such a unique and potent force in the IP world.

“When we partner with clients, we are usually ahead of the learning curve because our lawyers have not only studied the science behind the client’s technology, but most likely, they have backgrounds working in that industry,” he explains.

Feldman Gale was behind another big victory for St. Jude this year, saving the company millions in a tortious interference and breach of contract case. The firm galvanized the jury in federal trial, which returned a zero defense verdict after a competing manufacturer brought claims against the company and two of its new employees for over $6 million.

Outside the courtroom, the firm prosecutes patents, trademarks, and copyrights, and advises manufacturers, distributors, service providers and technology based companies on IP issues.
