Miami Finance Forum Creates Carlos J. Deupi, Esq./Raul G. Valdes-Fauli, Jr. Scholarship Fund

The Miami Finance Forum, South Florida’s leading professional finance industry networking organization, has created the Carlos J. Deupi, Esq./Raul Valdes-Fauli, Jr. Scholarship Fund, in memory of two former chairmen of the Miami Finance Forum who recently passed away. Jerry Haar, professor of management and international business at Florida International University, and a former Bboard member of the Miami Finance Forum, has committed $10,000 to launch the fund.

“During the past six months, the Miami Finance Forum, and South Florida’s business community, has lost two extraordinary leaders,” said Haar. “This is but a small token to honor the memory and accomplishments of my two very good friends, whose lives were taken from us too early.” The fund will be used towards full or partial student scholarships, practice-oriented research or other substantive educational focused activity conducted by the Miami Finance Forum.”

Carlos J. Deupi, Esq., Founder & Managing Partner of the Deupi Law Group, was a corporate and securities lawyer for more than 25 years. He was the current secretary and chairman emeritus of the Miami Finance Forum having served as chairman from 2007 to 2014, seven out of the 10 plus year history of the organization. Raul G. Valdes-Fauli, Jr., a career banker, was the president & CEO of Professional Bank. He served as chairman of MFF from 2015 to 2016.

“The Miami Finance Forum is ever grateful for Jerry Haar’s generosity and gesture of support which has made what we do as volunteers even more important to both our community and to honor the memory of Carlos and Raul who represented the very best of our organization and our community,” said Gregory M.
