“I don’t handle divorces, criminal law or personal injury cases. I only handle labor and employment law cases. So having done that for the last six years and that being the only area of law that I’ve practiced, I’d say that I have exceptional knowledge of this area of law. at degree of specialization and commitment to a very speci c area of law is our competitive edge,” Walker says.
Historically, as a boutique rm, e Zoppoth Law Firm credits itself as “Lou- isville’s Business Litigation Law Firm.” Business law services include business liti- gation, commercial litigation, shareholder litigation, partner dispute litigation, con- struction litigation, securities arbitration, and real estate arbitration. e rm was
founded by Scott Zoppoth in 1996 and has served clients in state and federal court throughout the State of Kentucky for twen- ty years and with the addition of the em- ployment law specialization those services have been dramatically enhanced.
The Employment Law Practice
e Zoppoth Law Firm’s Employment Lawpracticewasfounded veyearsagoby Amanda Walker. e current team of three attorneys specializes solely in the areas of wrongful termination claims; retaliation claims; employee rights and bene ts; wage and hour claims; workers’ compensation retaliation; sexual harassment claims; dis- crimination based on age, race, gender, dis-
ability, national origin or religious a lia- tion; severance package negotiations; illegal activities in the workplace; whistleblower retaliation; disability and failure to accom- modate claims; and Civil Rights Act claims.
Walker says, “When I started the em- ployment law practice for e Zoppoth Law Firm, we had zero employment law cases, and no other attorneys at the rm were practicing in this eld. It was just me initially and this was an entirely new area of practice for the rm. Scott’s area of prac- tice has always been in business litigation, and I was brought in to expand the rm’s practice to include representing plainti s in employment law matters.”
Within the rst year the employment law practice obtained a caseload of 50 to 60 cases and that number has grown throughout the years.
e Employment Law Group is currently composed of attorneys, Amanda Walker, Brad Zoppoth, and Tim George, and a ded- icated legal assistant.
